Chi Omega

Chi Omega

Chi Omega is the largest fraternal organization in the world, with over 355,000 initiates! One in every four sorority women is proudly a Chi Omega. Chi Omega has grown to include over 181 collegiate chapters worldwide since its beginnings at the University of Arkansas in 1895.

The Eta Beta Chapter of Chi Omega was founded in 1922. Since the beginning, our sisters have been devoted to high standards of personnel, academic excellence, lifelong friendships, career and personal development, service to others and both community and campus involvement.

OUR SYMPHONY

“To live constantly above snobbery of word or deed;
to place scholarship before social obligations and character before appearances;
to be, in the best sense, democratic rather than ‘exclusive’, and lovable rather than ‘popular’;
to work earnestly, to speak kindly, to act sincerely, to choose thoughtfully that course which occasion and conscience demand;
to be womanly always; to be discouraged never;
in a word, to be loyal under any and all circumstances to my Fraternity and her highest teachings and to have her welfare ever at heart that she may be a symphony of high purpose and helpfulness in which there is no discordant note.”

High Character

Having high character involves consistently acting in accordance with one's beliefs and values, even when it is difficult or inconvenient. It also means taking responsibility for one's actions and being accountable for one's mistakes. Our members inspire each other every day to be better sisters, leaders, students and friends.

Academic Excellence

Academic Excellence involves a commitment to learning, critical thinking, problem-solving, and intellectual curiosity. As a sorority, we are dedicated to a mindset of ever expanding intellectual growth and excellence amongst our studies and character.

Friendship

Chi Omega is much more than a sorority – it is a sisterhood and a home where you will find lifelong friends and a tremendous support system. Chi Omega provides us with a network of quality friendships and relationships that will last forever.

Career and Personal Development

Our sisters are deeply involved in countless campus activities while also holding many leadership positions across campus. We pride ourselves on being well rounded women!

Service

As Chi Omegas, we are very devoted to both of our philanthropies. Each fall we raise money for the Liz Kirke Foundation in honor of a former Eta Beta, and every spring we work to raise money for the Make-A-Wish foundation on both a local and national level.

A Note From Our President:

Hello!

My name is Nevada Voss, and I am honored to serve as the President of the Eta Beta Chapter of Chi Omega. As you look through our website, I hope that you catch a glimpse of what bright, strong, and talented women our chapter is composed of. I am proud to stand alongside the incredible women we have here in Chi Omega.

My story is a bit unique, as I never thought I wanted to join a sorority. I knew exactly what I was looking for when I came to college, and I was almost sure I would never find it in a sorority. I came to college wanting to find a community that always valued character and integrity over popularity. I wanted a place where I would grow by being encouraged and challenged. I knew I wanted genuine relationships that were rooted in kindness. What I did not realize was that I would find all of these things and more in the sisterhood of Chi Omega.

The outcome of joining Chi Omega has proven to be the most impactful decision I have ever made. I am consistently met with the utmost love and support. I have found such incredible people–full of ambition and depth. Shared values and goals unify us, and we actively encourage one another to uphold the values we all treasure. I cannot express enough gratitude for the opportunities, friendships, and growth I have gained from this chapter; Chi Omega is the cornerstone of my incredible college experience at Iowa State.
